The process of purchasing a puppy from Iowa Pointing Labs

The Labrador retriever breeder that guarantees what he produces with an unconditional guarantee for the first 26 months. Customers should demand this from a world-class breeder of pointing Labrador retrievers.

What is the process of picking a puppy? The order of purchasing a pup is on a first-come-first-serve basis. Your name will be put on a list when we receive your $250 deposit. Your name is placed in the type of puppy you want (color and gender).

Pictures of the puppies
We will provide pictures of the puppies on the third day, during the 4th week and the 6th week. No more or less. The great Ben O'Williams said, "spend your time choosing the litter then grab a pup".

When can we see the pups? After they have had their vaccinations and are 7 weeks old. This is basically the time you pick up the pup. We will not make any exceptions, as we would have to do it for all. We will arrange our schedule for you to pick up your pup except on Sundays. No exceptions on Sundays. We praise the Lord on Sunday as a family and value it with high regard. Please no phone calls on Sundays. Call Monday through Saturday during the day if possible or at night. We're available during the day as we homeschool our children.

Deposits are $250 nonrefundable. As soon as we receive the deposit you're put on a certain litter list. If we don't produce your pup you're put on a different litter of your choice.. If you change your mind and decide not to get a pup the deposit is nonrefundable. If we don’t produce the pup you requested you can apply it to a different litter or we will refund it.

Pricing of the pups

The price will vary depending on who the sire and dam is. There will be Iowa sales tax applied to the purchase price of the pup if you pick the pup up in the state of Iowa only. I don't like this but it is the Iowa state law and I have to obey the state laws. No exceptions. For example the purchase price of a pup $1000 x 7%=$1070 will be the final price. In Iowa as a breeder of dogs the buyer has to pay a sales tax if the pup is picked up in Iowa.

What is the cost of shipping puppies? The cost for shipping the puppy will be the customer’s responsibility at $450 for the total cost. No hidden fees as this will cover the Vet health certificate bill, transportation to airport, airline ticket, kennel/crate and matt, and food. We will arrange the flight for the puppy. We only use Delta as they provide the best service out of Des Moines, IA. We have had a 100% success.

Written guarantee. Pups will come with a written guarantee that will say. Our 26-month guarantee demonstrates the confidence we have in these pups. If you’re unhappy for any reason you will be able to apply the purchase price of the pup to another pup as soon as we receive the live pup/dog back at our kennel. The puppy registered name starts with our kennel name Iowa Pointing Labs. The cost of shipping back the pup to Iowa Pointing Labs and shipping handling the new pup to you is the customer’s responsibility. If the pup has been breed, sold to another person or mistreated the guarantee is void. If the pup/dog died for any reason other then genetic or from my kennel the guarantee is void.

If you’re not pleased with the pup, we will replace it. But you will not be keeping the pup your not satisfied with. That only makes total sense and is way above what most breeders will do for their customers.

Puppies

All Iowa Pointing Lab puppies are given shots at 6 weeks old. We use a Pfizer Vanguard plus 5-way vaccination. What your new puppy will need depends on how old it was when it left our facility. We also start worming at 2 weeks old with Strongid and at 4 weeks with Panacur then Marquis at 6 weeks. Please make sure your puppy is properly vaccinated at 9 weeks, at 12 weeks , at 16 weeks the 26 weeks. I strongly recommend this many vaccinations up to 26 weeks then every year.

Your family should play with the new puppy as much as possible and show it as many new situations as possible. Keep it in the home for the first 3 months if possible. Take walks through the woods, tall grasses and down to ponds are very beneficial for “expanding their horizons”. Get them used to water at a very early age. Nothing beats a nice pointing dog that will hit the water hard to get the pheasant that you accidentally shot over a pond or river!

What happens after you receive your pup?

We want to stress that Iowa Pointing Labs takes great pride in customer service before you get the pup and after. We will be available to answer any questions and help guide you through the process of training, ECT.
