Iowa Pointing Labs is a professional breeder specializing in Labrador pointing retrievers. We have spent an enormous amount of time in the past 30 years hunting upland birds, ducks and geese with a variety of gundogs, experiencing all ranges of training levels. We have done extensive travelling through many states spending countless hours with breeders and trainers in searching and prospecting Labrador retrievers. All our dogs go through evaluation and testing to ensure they truly have a natural point and if they pass that trait on to their offspring. We look at style and desire when it comes to hunting ability and retrieving.

We have hunted behind pointing labs owned by professional trainers in Colorado, Kansas, and South Dakota. We also belong to a retriever club, which helps us with our evaluation of the retriever’s style and desire. In addition we also attend hunt tests, field trials and APLA events. We have trained with multiple gundog trainers, which has given us the opportunity to see hundreds of retrievers perform. This has enabled Iowa Pointing Labradors to establish relationships with some of the best trainers and breeders in the country.

In 2010, we hired four different professional trainers throughout the county to train our dogs. Our experience in 2010 alone included entering dogs in the AKC, MH, SH, and JH hunt test events. In addition, we also had Labradors in the AKC field trials, APLA hunt test events, and HRC hunt test events. As of 2011 we currently own 4 different GMPR and over 10 CP females. In 2012 we have hired a full time trainer located at our facility. We produced the youngest 4XGMPR in the APLA history. In the end Iowa Pointing Labs will produce a better pup and price for you, the customer.
